Artist’s Statement:
Pete’s practise explores shape, colour and pattern found within a variety of landscapes. Marks, forms and textures are recorded producing compositions ranging in size form 20 x 28 inches to 45 x 45 inches. Pete’s paintings form a visual response to both the natural and built environment and his development of a visual vocabulary has enabled him to compose imagery that is a direct record of observation but also an abstract interpretation of what surrounds us. Pete gained a BA (hons) Degree in Fine Art from Liverpool John Moores University in 2002, followed the same year by the awarding of the Wirral Fine Art Fellowship. Practising since 2000, Pete has exhibited widely and was awarded 1st prize at national open painting competition, the ‘Sefton Open’ in 2003.
